When installing a wire fence, the main function of fence posts is to the wire and support it at the proper height from the ground. Corner posts have to be very strong and well constructed because these hold the strength of the fence.
The distance between different posts should not be more than 20 meters, to provide high tension wire fence. In case of woven wire fence, fence posts should not be further than 4 to 6 feet apart from each other.
Line posts are generally either round wooden posts of about 10 centimeters diameter, or metal T-bar posts. Wooden posts are more esthetically pleasing. They usually cost a bit more, and they require a lot more effort to install.
When installing a fence there are some things that you should think some things through, for example how much support your fence will need because it is not reasonable to install an expensive strong fence with concrete fence posts when you even do not need them.
A wire fence that is installed with insulated posts (such as wood) has to be properly grounded to protect against lightning strikes that might start a fire - an additional step for a fence constructed of all wooden posts.
