How do I bring fencing gear purchased in France back to the US, flying back from England?
I started taking fencing lessons in the USA, but my coach fenced in France and knows a good place to get gear there. I will be in England and Paris over the summer, and want to get gear there- fencing mask, plastron, jacket, pants, and epee. However, I know that you have to somehow deal with customs when bringing things purchased in one country into another. What exactly is involved, will there be any trouble?

Answer:
You should be able to transport these items as checked baggage. Just declare them on the Customs form you'll fill out on the way back. Be prepared to pay whatever duties may be applicable. Alternately, you may be able to have them shipped via UPS or FedEx.
