James is fencing a rectangular field that measures 25 ft by 21 ft. How much fencing should he buy?
I am not asking for the answer, just help! I know that you find the are of a rectangle by multiplying its length times width.....so is that how you get the answer? I know this is basic but I suck at math.
Answer: The rectangle has four sides...2 sides are 25ft and 2 sides are 21ft...So to figure out the linear feet James needs to buy, simply add 25+25+21+21 and the answer is how much fence he needs.
EDIT: Multiping 25 x 21 will give you the square footage not the linear feet.
